Queenstown -The popular ski town; a thrill-seekers paradise

In the South Island of New Zealand, Queenstown in the city of Otago, has been a popular tourist destination for a number of years and has been steadily increasing in popularity. Queenstown is mostly known for its adventure and ski tourism and is frequented by visitors looking for an adrenaline packed holiday. When looking for accommodation for your visit, be sure to choose a Queenstown hotel which will cater to your individual needs. There are a number of luxurious hotels in the area that offer a large variety of amenities however hotels such as Oaks Shores offer apartment-style accommodation, perfect for making you feel at home on holiday.

Queenstown offers a huge variety of activities for the thrill seeker, which include skiing, snowboarding, whitewater rafting, bungy jumping, tramping, sky diving, fly fishing, jet boating, mountain biking and much more. However, a number of these activities are seasonal, and it is best to contact the companies that offer these activities ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

As stated above, Queenstown is a very popular snow sports destination, with tourists from all over the world visiting the four main ski fields: Cardrona, Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Treble Cone. Cross country skiing enthusiasts can also visit the Waiorau Snowfarm near the Cardrona Village.

For those who are visiting Queenstown for a more relaxed holiday, Queenstown is also located in the centre of the world’s southernmost wine producing region, and there are a number of restaurants and bars that feature the wine of the region. Queenstown is also home to a number of world-class golf courses such as the Millbrook Resort, Jack’s Point, and the Queenstown Golf Club. There is also a very popular mall, aptly named the Queenstown Mall, for those who would like to indulge in a bit of retail therapy. No matter what your adventure threshold is, Queenstown has something for everyone.
